Me vs Arby’s
I recently wrote a story entitled Drive Thru. This story is in fact mostly a true story. Some dialogs in it are verbatim. I wrote it one afternoon after my wife was having a particularly bad day. It was meant to be a comedy to cheer her up. And it did.
However, the conclusion to the story is fictitious. I don’t believe that sort of ending could be had in real life. This led me to think about what I should do about all the bad service that I had been given.
So I went to Arbys.com and put this into the customer complaint box:
$location & $identity information.
This particular location of Arby’s has been the bane of my existance for some time now. I like Arby’s food. I tend to go there about once a month. However, since I moved to my current home 4 years ago, I have had only one order of mine actually go from start to finish with out a problem.
The problems that have experienced are the following:
Incorrect Order taken.
Incorrect Order processed.
Sandwiches with condiments that I had specifically requested removed.
Incorrect Charging of my order.
Missing food items.
Incorrect size of food items.
Rude, Apathetic employees.
Sandwich delivered without meat, condiments or even anything between the bread.
Insufficient quantities of things. (2 Chicken Crispers when there should be 3, Large fries not filled up. Medium fry instead of large fry.)
Order was given to another customer in drive thru.
Recieved order of another customer in drive thru. The service is so outrageously bad that it has become a joke among family members and friends. I was so inspired by all the troubles I have had that I even wrote a story and posted it to the web. ( http://blog.apartment142.com/2007/08/13/drive-thru/)
Unlike my story none of my dealings with this Arby’s has ever been satisfactorily handled. In fact, the same apathy predominates the order process seems to predominate customer complaints. The manager whom I have talked to on nearly every occasion still seems to not recognize me.
I have spent a significant sum at that Arby’s since I’ve moved there. I cringe at the thought of going back there any time soon. What I would prefer most would be for that store to be managed appropriately and eliminate further problems like I’ve experienced. It would be nice to be reimbursed for my expenditures but seeing as how I have not kept any of those receipts, I can accept that might not be possible.
Thank you.
After submitting it, Arby’s has attempted to contact me two times. I was unable to get those calls at those times. I do intend to talk to them.
The odd part is that in all likelihood, they’ll offer me free coupons or a gift card. Which is sort of like saying, “Welcome to Hell, the next trip to the furnace is free!”
We’ll see, I’ll post when I’ve gotten some more information about it.
